Well, we finally have our dates for the reconnaissance trip! We're heading off in the last week of April and returning in the first week of May, spending one weekend and a working week in Austin and a weekend in San Francisco. It's a flying visit, so there won't be a lot of time (particularly in San Francisco, since we're only spending a couple of days there with friends), but I would love some recommendations from those of you who know the two cities. The locations of good bookstores, cafes, restaurants, vintage and thrift stores would, in particular, be wonderful! I would also love to meet up with some Austin folks while I'm there, if there are any around who would be keen for a cup of coffee with a Kiwi - LOML is going to be working there during the weekdays, and so I'll be wandering about on my own. Probably getting lost. But enjoyably lost.
