Book-launch dress
'50s red gingham dress - cotton, no label.
I have a personal tradition of trawling through thrift stores whenever a momentous occasion arises in order to find a celebratory vintage dress (I also did it when I was receiving a lot of rejection letters - but the Rejection Dresses are happy ones too). That way, they all bring with them some joyful memory quite beside their inherent vintage prettiness, and I can start to haunt them a little bit with my own personality, as they are already haunted by their previous owners.
Is it weird to think of my dresses as being haunted? Only in a good way, I promise, and I like to think of all the full-skirted, contented ghosts gossiping together in my closet.
P.S. Christchurch continues to stand strong and recover after last week's earthquake. For ways in which you can help, go here.
